The Company made its debut performance at the Black International Women’s day ‘In Celebration of My Sisters’ held at the Brixton Academy, London in March 1997, with a piece specially choreographed for the occasion. The piece ‘Aspects of Woman’ was described as ‘brilliant!’ by the event co-ordinator Tony Fairweather. The company continues to perform at a wide range of events nationally and internationally. Performance  – fashion show (Spitalfields, London)

Along with performing, Muraldo D.C. offers educational establishments the opportunity to utilise their professional skills as qualified teachers to imaginatively apply dance as an effective tool of learning, teaching from one off workshops to residencies and regular classes.

The company takes every opportunity to promote and teach dances of African heritage with a particular emphasis on Caribbean dances traditions (the company is especially renown for its work with Caribbean Quadrilles) and their own unique development Africanistic movement which provide a basis from which to study these exciting and challenging dance forms, offering a comprehensive range of classes, workshops and courses for all ages and abilities.

Muraldo DC under its Artistic Director, Caroline Muraldo, has developed work for three main areas:

  • Performance in venues such as theatres, schools, community venues, festivals, etc,
  • Educational work for educational establishments, community centres, projects etc
  • Church Ministry through both performance and teaching.

As a Christian dance company, the company offers workshops and classes along with an annual week long summer school in Christian (Liturgical) dance specifically and the link between Dance and Christianity from a biblical perspective, allowing students to explore how God really feels about dance according to His Word!
